Cancellation & Booking Policy

Due to the small-scale nature of Sun Hound’s care model, availability is extremely limited. Once a booking has been confirmed, those dates are reserved specifically for your dog and may prevent other enquiries from being accepted.

Booking Deposits

A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to secure all bookings with Sun Hound.

Bookings are not considered confirmed until the deposit has been received.

The remaining balance must be paid prior to or at the commencement of your dog’s stay unless otherwise arranged.

Cancellations

Cancellations made more than 14 days prior to the booking

If a cancellation is made more than 14 days before the scheduled booking start date, the deposit may be transferred to a future booking date at Sun Hound’s discretion.

Refunds are not guaranteed.

Cancellations made within 14 days of the booking

Cancellations made within 14 days of the booking start date will result in the forfeiture of the booking deposit.

Cancellations made within 7 days of the booking

Cancellations made within 7 days of the booking start date may incur payment of up to 100% of the total booking cost.

This applies particularly to:

* Peak periods

* Long stays

* Multiple dog bookings

* Bookings involving Tasmania-wide transport

* Dates that are unable to be refilled

Peak Period Bookings

Bookings during school holidays, public holidays, Christmas, New Year and other peak travel periods are in particularly high demand.

Deposits for peak period bookings are strictly non-refundable.

Cancellations made within 14 days of peak period bookings may incur the full booking fee if the space cannot be refilled.

Transport Bookings

Transport bookings require significant scheduling, fuel costs and travel time.

If transport has already been arranged, scheduled or commenced, transport-related fees may still apply even if the stay itself is cancelled.

Minimum stay requirements also apply for dogs requiring long-distance transport.

Early Returns & Booking Changes

If an owner chooses to collect their dog earlier than the agreed booking dates, unused nights are non-refundable.

Requests to extend stays are subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed.

Exceptional Circumstances

Sun Hound understands that emergencies and unexpected situations can occur. Reasonable flexibility may be considered in genuine exceptional circumstances at Sun Hound’s discretion, however this is not guaranteed.

Sun Hound Cancellations

In rare situations, Sun Hound reserves the right to decline, cancel or end a booking if:

* A dog is found to be unsafe or unsuitable for the environment

* Important behavioural or medical information was withheld

* A dog is displaying severe distress, aggression or destructive behaviour

* Emergency or personal circumstances arise

Where appropriate, any unused portion of the booking may be refunded at Sun Hound’s discretion.
