ABOUT MEIREN
Hello!
My name is Meiren, and I’m 22 years old. Dogs have always been a huge part of my life. I was recently diagnosed with inattentive ADHD (2026), which has given me a lot of clarity looking back on how I’ve experienced things. I often struggled with focus, feeling overwhelmed, and being in environments that didn’t really suit how my brain works. Dogs were always the one place where things felt quieter and more manageable. Being around them helped me slow down, stay present, and feel grounded. My ability to tune into them and notice the small details is something that now really shapes how I train and work with dogs.
I grew up in Tasmania and now offer dog training services primarily in Hobart and Bicheno. I regularly travel along the East Coast to work with clients, and I’m always happy to travel further if needed.
I have completed my Certificate in Dog Training and Behaviour with Austin’s Dog Training and Education, and in 2025, I completed further education through the Karen Pryor Academy. This program focuses on positive reinforcement and a science-based approach to training, and it’s had a big influence on how I work. It’s helped me slow down, really observe dogs as individuals, and be more intentional with my training.
Through my business, I offer one-on-one training, group adventure walks, dog sitting, and combined house and dog sitting. My goal is always to make sure your dog feels safe, understood, and genuinely cared for.
My training approach is centred around positive reinforcement, clear communication, and meeting dogs where they’re at. My main focus is building strong, genuine relationships between dogs and their people. I strongly believe that is the foundation for everything else. I aim for real-life functionality while still allowing your dog to be a dog. Obedience often comes naturally when there’s a close, trusting relationship, so your wellbeing and your dog’s overall quality of life is always at the centre of what I do. I also aim to create a space that feels safe and supportive for everyone involved, regardless of where they’re starting from.
My dog, Oat, is a huge part of my journey. She’s a 2-year-old Border Collie with a lot of drive and personality. She challenges me in the best way. Working with her has taught me patience, creativity, and how important it is to adapt your training to the dog in front of you. She’s also a big part of why I’ve developed such a strong interest in things like scent work, breed-specific training and enrichment.
Looking ahead, I hope to pursue veterinary science so I can expand my understanding of animal health and behaviour, and bring a more well-rounded approach to the dogs I work with.
I’m really excited for what’s ahead and feel incredibly grateful that I get to do something that means so much to me every day.
When I’m not with your dogs, you can find me drinking coffee, making ceramics or exploring creative projects. I play football for Lauderdale FC, and enjoy running, cycling, surfing, rock climbing and genuinely just being outside! I regularly road trip up the East Coast, and spend any time that I can at the beach. You will rarely see me without Oat, my dog; she joins me on all of my adventures! Read more about Oat below.
